Psalms 94

The Lord Implored to Avenge His People.

1 Lord, God of
Or avenging acts
,
bvengeance,
God of
Or avenging acts
vengeance,
Or has shone forth
,
eshine forth!
2 fRise up, gJudge of the earth,
Pay back retribution hto the proud.
3 How long, Lord, shall the wicked--
How long shall the iwicked triumph?
4 They pour out words, they jspeak arrogantly;
All who do injustice kboast.
5 They lcrush Your people, Lord,
And mafflict Your inheritance.
6 They nkill the widow and the stranger
And murder the orphans.
7 oThey have said, “
Heb Yah
The Lord does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob perceive.”

8 Pay attention, you qstupid ones among the people;
And when will you understand, rfoolish ones?
9 He who splanted the ear,
Or can
does He not hear?
Or He who formed the eye,
Or can
does He not see?
10 He who
Or instructs
,
wdisciplines the nations, will He not rebuke,
He who xteaches mankind knowledge?
11 The Lord yknows human thoughts,
Or For
That they are mere breath.

12 Blessed is the man whom aaYou discipline,
Heb Yah
Lord,
And acwhom You teach from Your Law,
13 So that You may grant him adrelief from the aedays of adversity,
Until afa pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For agthe Lord will not abandon His people,
Nor will He ahabandon His inheritance.
15 For
I.e., administration of justice
,
ajjudgment
Lit will return to righteousness
will again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart
Lit will be after it
will follow it.
16 Who will amstand up for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me anagainst those who do injustice?

17 If aothe Lord had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the land of silence.
18 If I should say, “ apMy foot has slipped,”
Your faithfulness, Lord, will support me.
19 When my anxious thoughts
Or are many
multiply within me,
Your arcomfort delights my soul.
20 Can a
Or tribunal
,
atthrone of destruction be allied with You,
One auwhich devises
Or trouble, misfortune
mischief by decree?
21 They awband themselves together against the
Or soul
life of the righteous
And aycondemn
Lit innocent blood
the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has been my barefuge,
And my God the bbrock of my refuge.
23 He has bcbrought back their injustice upon them,
And He will
Or silence
,
bedestroy them in their evil;
The Lord our God will
Or silence
destroy them.
